March Hi, I'm having issues with setting the on board setting to overclock on the x It always seems to enable fine initially. However when I run World of Warcraft, I get intermittent black screens and lose audio for a few seconds up to 10 seconds. It happens soon after I start the game, when I change the volume, or when I alt-tab back to the desktop.

I think it might be playable but it shouldn't behave this way. I like 98HzI get black outs as long as the overclock is set to on. I don't get black screens like this when overclock is set to off.

I am using the displayport cable that came with the x27, which says it's rated for 8K. Do they sell a better cable than the one that comes with the monitor? Would that fix my problem? Regards, Dan. Sign In or Register to comment.

Members Lounge. Welcome Forum. Acer Answers. Get Product Information only. This is mainly due to the fact that it is a high refresh rate panel supported by NVIDIA's G-Sync technology, which essentially adapts the screen's refresh rate to the current framerate to ensure a perfectly smooth, tear-free picture. The effective G-Sync range is Hz or FPS, if you want to look at it that waywhich means you'll be able to fully utilize it even if you decide to overclock the panel.

How to Overclock your Monitor, Higher Refresh Rate with AMD or Nvidia GPU

The smoothness of the gameplay and my mouse's accuracy when gaming at a high framerate are simply staggering. By getting this monitor, especially if you were previously using a standard 60 Hz model, you will effectively improve your in-game skills.

Within a matter of hours, I started hitting headshots I previously wouldn't even dare to try. I also felt like I replaced my mouse with an infinitely better one even though that is not really possible as my mouse is equipped with one of the best optical sensors currently available, the PixArt PMW Overclocking of the panel can be done in a matter of seconds by changing a single setting in the OSD, and I had no trouble hitting the maximum Hz mark.

I'm pointing this out mainly because Acer's first overclockable monitor, the Predator X34, was a bit of a hit-and-miss affair. You could get a sample that was overclockable to Hz, and your friend could get one that wouldn't go past 95 Hz, even though you bought them on the same day, in the same store. It goes up to what you set it to without a hitch. The panel uses overdrive technology to make the pixel transitions faster, and you will find the option under the acronym "OD" in the OSD.

Overdrive has three different settings - Off, Normal, and Extreme. I extensively tested all of them in various fast-paced games and used Pixel Persistence Analyzer to confirm my findings. For gaming, I found the Normal setting to work the best. When Ovedrive is set to Off, there's noticeable ghosting in darker games. It's not worth setting it to Extreme, though, as that will introduce quite a lot of overshoot - that distracting, ugly-looking white trail behind moving objects.

Setting it to Normal offers the best balance between these two extremes and generally results in satisfyingly sharp, nice-looking action. I then took photos of both screens at very high shutter speeds to capture the difference in the times displayed on the timer. While this certainly isn't the ideal method of determining the exact input lag value, it does give us an idea of the category the monitor falls into.

The general consensus is that, in terms of input lag, there are three categories monitors can fall into. If it's lower than 16 ms that equals a frame of lag at 60 Hzthe monitor can be declared as gaming-grade for even the most demanding gamers. If it falls between ms between frames of lag at 60 Hzthe monitor is suitable for almost everyone but the most hardcore gamers, especially if they're playing first-person shooters. It looks like you're new here.

April in Monitors. So according to documentation and the internet my ETQK, which normally runs at 60hz, can actually run at 75hz at x I've gone into my Windows 10 display settings List All Modes and x 75hz does not appear in the list.

This is making me think that I have to overclock the monitor but I've never done that before and am worried about breaking something. Can anyone help me either get 75hz running normally or via a recommended overclocking solution?

April Good night CreepyMo! There is no monitor overclocking. To achieve this rate, it will depend on your hardware set: Your GPU, your processor, your monitor, and the type of connection and cable used.

Otherwise, I am willing to try to heal your doubts and solve your problems! Sincerely, J. April edited April Sign In or Register to comment. Who's Online 1. Join in, share your experience! Discussion Monitor Overclock. What to search articles discussions comments polls questions answers. Technomancer Member Posts: 1 New User. September in Predator Monitors. I tried to OC it manually to Hz as the box says you can through the Nvidia Control Panel, but the speakers made a really weird noise and the screen went black. Seems fine Hz though. My question is, is this OC going to damage the life of or negatively impact my monitor? Does it void the warranty? Pretty well experienced with monitors and computers as a whole but in my experience, OC'ing a panel negates the warranty.

Is this still the case here? I appreciate the help! September If overclocking will void it, it is at your own risk to overclocking it. I haven't heard of any stories about destroying their monitor by overclocking it, but if you do, if your overclock becomes unstable, th monitor will black out for a few seconds and will automatically change back to stock speed.

From what I've seen the overclock shouldn't cause any reduction in lifespan, so I would say definitely go for it - it never hurts to see what you get, and you can always just remove the overclock if you feel the improvement isn't worth it. Discussion Need help with overclocking nitro 5. What to search articles discussions comments polls questions answers.

September edited September in Nitro and Aspire Gaming. I have a nitro 5 laptop which has i5, a ti and 8gb of ram and was wondering if there is a way to overclock without msi afterburner since my power limit slider is greyed out and stuck at 0.

Also if you have any ideas on how to fix it that would also be appreciated. September Thank you and have a blessed day. September edited September I know this isn't the answer you wanted but if I answered your question please click YES. ZynFaith Member Posts: 11 Tinkerer.

You can increase perfomance with MSI Afterburner. Also you can check video to overclock ti on notebook. And you can undervolt your proccessor with Intel Xtreme Utility.

That lowered temperature and give your proccessor reach higher frequences. You can check video, too Second stick 8gb ram increase perfomance, too.

Etheral Member Posts: 13 Tinkerer. May 8. I know this is an old question, but this is an answer for people who find this because it comes up kind of high when you search for this in Google. No you cannot unlock the core voltage or power limit, but this does not mean you can't overclock. Every ti will have a small variance in how much you can overclock. Some might be larger than others.

At the moment the best course of action is to use Intel's extreme tuning program if you have an i5 H. Older generations of the Nitro will have a 7th gen i5. Not quite sure on the ability to undervolt those processors, but it's important to do so if you plan on overclocking the GPU to stay within the thermal limits of the laptops cooling system. I would also suggest using nitrosense to keep your fans on max andaand any throttling while gaming.

Navigate to "Refresh rate:", which displays 60Hz. Click dropdown menu, click Hz, click Apply. Monitor goes black for seconds, desktop reappears, 60Hz is the active refresh rate. Monitor's framecounter in upper right corner confirms this. Right click desktop, click "Display settings", navigate to and click "Advanced display settings", navigate to and click "Display adapter properties", click "Monitor" tab, "Screen refresh rate: 60 Hertz.

Monitor goes black, desktop reappears, 60Hz is the active refresh rate. Scratch head, swear, go outside to smoke and scratch head, return to computer. Have an idea. Click dropdown menu, click 95Hz, click Apply.

Triple digit framerates make my computer feel better about the size of its chip. Not sure if I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's having this problem, but it's a bit of a relief if nothing else. Funny how that works. TY4 the prompt reply. I figured Iwould ask here instead of making a new thread but I'm getting my x34 tomororw and I was wondering how will I be able to tell if hz works or not or if I should use 90 or 95?

Do that, click Change resolution, find the refresh rate dropdown menu and click Hz. Click Apply. Monitor will go black. If Hz works on your monitor, the frame-counter will say If it doesn't, it should default back to If it doesn't work attry going down incrementally until you find a refresh rate that works.

OK so I followed your steps and in the upper right hand corner the refresh rate number sits at in yellow writing so as long as it says that, then this monitor supports hz? Unfortunately with all the bad early reports it makes you look for every last fault, I stopped and just started using it and boy do I love it now.

Thanks for clairifying! I'm not tech savey so I figured I would ask. It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons! You forgot to overclock your monitor! Refresh rates can often be pushed beyond shipped specifications, providing you have a well-made panel that decides to play along. While the best approach depends on your GPU and appetite for details, all the software involved is free so the only cost to see if your monitor goes beyond 60Hz is a little effort.

AMD users have CRU Custom Resolution Utilitya popular, no-nonsense utility created for experienced monitor jockeys that provides a host of options to create custom display modes. Questions are answered, test results reported and problems patched away on regular basis. NVidia owners can also use CRU but have some additional options to consider.

Once you find the upper limit, back the Hz down a few clicks and save the new screen mode. Testing for full stability requires more than a glance at the desktop however. Run a few familiar games and spend some time moving windows or playing video while checking for blinking horizontal lines, skipped frames or other erratic behavior. If you find any, lower the refresh rate slightly and try again.

The refresh-rate specialists at Blurbusters offer a variety of indispensable tools and user forums dedicated to testing and validating overclocked displays, and should be considered a primary resource for checking your monitor settings or learning about life beyond 60Hz. Tucked away on the interface panel amidst the rest of the graphics card tools is a basic slider-style Pixel Clock utility that provides the easiest way to dabble with refresh rates.

Just slide and click.

Contrary to what you might have heard, cables do make a difference, especially when it comes to high refresh rates and resolutions. Keep cable length short; longer cables can result in lower overclocks due to signal degradation.

Try different cables or connectors on both the monitor and GPU sides and avoid using adapters, unless they are specially made for the purpose. Some versions of the patch break HDCP support and other features, so read the known issues for each carefully. Which brings us to a final note of caution that holds true for any overclock—this probably voids warranties and whatnot so be prepared to shoulder the consequences if anything goes wrong.
